  • MEXICO JUNIOR VARSITY: In the opening round of the Mexico High School Junior Varsity Tournament, Mexico defeated the North Callaway Thunderbirds 57-29.
    Top scorers for Mexico were: Markail Williams 19 points, Malik Holman 13, D'Milo Nunnelly 12, Skylar Harrington 9, Brady Jacobi 2, Wesley Oetting and Sam Lee, 1 point each.
    Steven Coleman and Michael Pezold each scored 10 points for North Callaway.
    On Thursday night the Bulldogs continued in the tournament beating Boonville 58-49.
    To scorers for Mexico were: Malik Holman 21 points, Markail Williams 18 points and 12 rebounds, D'Milo Nunnelly 17 points, Skylar Harrington 1 point and 14 assists, Wesley Oetting 6 points, Alex Bledsoe 3 points and Brady Jacobi 2 points.
    The Bulldogs are now 8-1 on the season.
    The JV plays again tonight at home against Marshall.
    NORTH CALLAWAY GIRLS: In the semifinals of the Southern Boone Tournament on Wednesday, Father Tolton High School of Columbia upset the North Callaway Ladybirds, 41-40. The Ladybirds were playing without one of their top players sophomore Elaine Brinker. Brinker will be out the remainder of the year with a torn ACL in the knee.
    Earlier in the season North Callaway had beaten Father Tolton 48-18.
    Tolton had two players in double figures, River Remis with 14, and Hope Wright with 12 including four 3-pointers. For North Callaway, Jaida Gray scored 20 and Maddie Sorrel 18. Sorrell also led the team with 9 rebounds.
    The Ladybirds are 12-7 on the season and Tolton is 10-11. North Callaway will be back in action Monday at Montgomery County R-2 for both varsity and junior varsity.

    COMMUNITY R-6 BOYS: The Trojans led by Lane Thebeau with 17 points defeated the Wellsville Tigers on Tuesday at Wellsville 63-41. Lane Thebeau led the team with 16 points including two 3-pointers. Conner Brooks scored 13 points for the Trojans and had one 3-pointer. The Trojans brought down a total of 34 rebounds led by Ryan Kitchen with 7. Kyle Curtis was close behind with 5 rebounds.
    Sean Wilson, Clay Thebeau each had 3 assists and Clay Thebeau had 3 steals.
    The Trojans are 14-4 overall and 4-1 in conference.

    Community R-6: 18-9-25-11
    PARIS BOYS: The Coyotes lost Thursday night 53-36 to Westran. Paris did not have a player in double figures. Slater Stone and Zane Lockhart each scored eight points, while Brant Francis scored 6 points. Stone also led the team with 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals and 1 assist. Lockhart also had 2 steals.
    Paris is now 3-17 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
