At approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday, Heather Bensley was walking in the area of 400 block of East Central. She was approached by a man she knew who began asking her for money. The man pulled out a long barreled silver handgun and pointed it at her head and cocked the hammer. The man attempted to take her purse from her arms, ripping the purse, but was unable to get it. Bensley said she was going to call the police at which time he left the area in an unknown direction on foot.
Bensley provided a statement at Mexico Department of Public Safety and the suspect was located in the 1300 block of East Holt. Demarko Walls was taken into custody for first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and an active warrant.
