"A proposed ordinance to rezone a section of West Love and an amendment to the city code reducing the load limit on the Clark Street bridge will be under consideration for reading and passage at the city council meeting. The Love Street ordinance would open the West Plaza area to further commercial development by rezoning the south side of the 700 block of West Love from residential to commercial. RSI Inc., owner of the area Pizza Hut franchise, has an option to purchase three lots on West Monroe and the corresponding adjacent lots on West Love if the zoning change is approved. An ordinance reducing the load limit on the Clark Street bridge from 11 tons to 4 tons also received first and second readings on Jan. 25. The ordinance was drafted as the result of a feasibility study that suggested reduction of the load limit would increase the aging bridge's life by about 10 years."
