"The Ecleadean Lodge of the Knights of Pythias celebrated the forty-ninth anniversary of the Order Monday evening at Castle Hall in this city. About thirty members were present and a most enjoyable and interesting evening was spent. The Revs. J.D. Greer and Joseph Harvey, although not members of the Order were present and made interesting talks on the advantages and uses of fraternal organizations."

"En route to a fire on N. Wade St. at 8:48 p.m. Saturday, the Mexico fire department's truck was involved in a collision at Monroe and Clark streets with a truck that failed to allow right-of-way. Norman W. Davidson, 21, driver of a Hatfield Service truck, was hospitalized for injuries suffered in the collision, a traffic signal pole was knocked down at the intersection, and the garage on fire at 324 N. Wade St. had about $150 damages."

"About $78,000 will be distributed to Audrain County's political subdivisions as the result of figures revealed by a state audit covering the years 1985 and 1986. The audit, conducted by State Auditor Margaret Kelly, was received this week for examination by county officials. County Clerk John Jesse said the refund of $76,231 from the General Revenue and Assessment funds will not adversely affect the county's financial condition, which the audit indicates is very strong."

"The Mexico Area Family YMCA's $1.75 million expansion will officially begin Sunday at 2 p.m. with a capital campaign celebration and ground breaking. Everyone is invited to attend the celebration, which will include performances by Noteworthy, a short program, and refreshments. Volunteers who headed up the various divisions in the campaign will assist in the ground breaking. The architect's renderings of the new YMCA facilities will also be on display. The YMCA expansion is being made possible by the capital campaign begun last spring. The campaign goal is $1.75 million, with almost $.14 million raised to date."
