The Bulldogs got off to a great start as they took control of the first quarter outscoring the Spartans 16-6 in the first quarter. The early start took the home capacity crowd out of the game. However, the Bulldogs got into some foul trouble in the second quarter and Moberly outscored the Bulldogs 13-9 in the second quarter. The Bulldogs still led at the half 25-19. Moberly continued to execute in the third quarter and edged the Bulldogs 16-14. The Bulldogs held onto a 39-35 at the end of three quarters. The fourth quarter became very interesting as Moberly took a one point lead but, the Bulldogs rallied back and took control and made free throws down the stretch to claim the 52-47 victory. The loss drops the Moberly Spartans to 17-5 and 8-2 in the NCMC.
Coach Brennan Scanlon was pleased to get out of Moberly with the 5 point victory. The Bulldogs did a good job of executing in the half-court but became inconsistent in the fourth quarter giving Moberly opportunities to hang around. "We have to improve in crunch time with our offensive execution and must get consistent defensive stops to win games. We also must become more consistent from the free throw line, especially in the fourth quarter. Jake Willer led the Bulldogs in scoring with 17 points, followed by Jon Anderson with 11, Jake Anderson with 10, Jaeon Nunnelly and Cole Jaramillo 5 points each Matt Ridgway with 4 points.
