Vitale, Smith, Jones first team; Moran, Turner, second team
The accolades keep coming for the Mexico High School wrestlers. Five of the matmen have been named to the 2012-13 All North Central Missouri Conference team.
Senior Jake Vitale, sophomore Hunter Smith and freshman Jordan Jones were named to the first team in their weight class. Sophomore Jayde Moran and junior Payton Turner were named to the second team in their weight class.
Vitale, wrestling in the 145 weight class, posted an outstanding 52-1 record. Vitale had the best record of the wrestlers named to the All Conference team.
Smith, 120 weight class, was 32-12 on the season.
Jones, 126 weight class, was 45-8, an outstanding year for the freshman.
Moran, 138 weight class, was 31-14 overall.
Turner, 182 weight class, was 32-13 for the year.
All five of the wrestlers also were state qualifiers with Vitale, Smith and Jones bringing home medals.
As a team, Mexico was placed fourth in conference.
