Walter Roy Beasley, 76, of Thompson, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at his home.
He was born March 7, 1936, to Melvin Roy and Jessie Ann (Pool) Beasley. He was married on April 7, 1956 to Virginia Ruth Scott in Thompson. Walter was raised in Centralia and graduated form Centralia High School in 1963. He worked at A.B. Chance company for many years and farmed in the Thompson area.
He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was an avid golfer and loved playing golf with his golf buddies. He enjoyed bluegrass, gospel music and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; his mother, Jessie Ann Beasley, Centralia; son, Bill (Christy) Beasley of Jackson; daughters, Karen (Bob) Hagedorn and Wendy (Mike) Hardman, all of Centralia. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Beasley; Jon (Cheryl) Beasley, Katelyn Beasley, Megan Hagedorn and fiance, Jeff Jones; Canaan (C.J.) Hagedorn, Baylee Hardman, and Conner Hardman. Also surviving are brothers, Dale (Laura) Beasley, Centralia; Art Beasley, Louisburg, Kan., and Don (Anna Ruth) Rusch, Centralia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Roy Beasley, sister-in-law, Glenda Beasley and nephew, Todd Beasley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Fenton Funeral Chapel, Centralia. Officiating will be Rev. Don Gillispie, pastor, Hopewell Baptist Church, Thompson. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Centralia.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
