James M. Mosley, 74 of Mexico, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. David Nash officiating. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
James was born Feb. 5, 1939 in Mokane, the son of Joseph Carson and Lois Vernice (Maddox) Mosley. On May 4, 1957 in Hernando, Miss., he married Carolyn Hite.
Mr. Mosley was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1957-61. He started his working career at Kaisers and then went into Union Labor as an Organizer, which he did for 33 years.
James was a member of the First Christian Church, Elks Lodge, Shriners and a former member of the Jaycees. He was a member of Masonic Lodges in Mexico, Perry, Paris and Mokane. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows in Mokane.
Mr. Mosley loved fishing, hunting, woodworking and his dog, Winnie. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and MU fan.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of the home; two sons, Mark Mosley and Kathy of Mexico and Steven Mosley and wife, Cheryl of Mexico; one daughter, Michelle Mosley and Rodney Brewster of Mexico; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Maurene Painter of Victoria, Tex. and Martha Linhardt of Wichita, Kan.
James was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Ann Bensley; his parents; and two brothers, Clyde Crump and J.C. Mosley Jr.
