"Have you seen the new nickel? It has arrived in Mexico. It is thoroughly American, the low relief designs on the two sides depicting, respectively, an American bison and an American Indian. The place of the classical figure of Liberty, with regular features and Grecian nose, which decorates the old 5-cent piece, is taken by the head of an Indian. On the opposite side appears the bison. There is no capital "V" on the new nickel. Instead, under the buffalo, appears the words "Five Cents." On the same side is the rest of the legal inscription, "United States of America" and "E Pluribus Unum.' "
