Attorney Paul J. Stingley has been appointed by Mexico City Manager Bruce Slagle as the new municipal court judge for the City of Mexico.
Stingley has been a practicing attorney since 1993 and currently serves as the Municipal Judge for Auxvasse.
He is a graduate of Missouri State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School.
The Mexico Municipal Court is a Division of the 12th Judicial Circuit Court of the State of Missouri, and its jurisdiction extends to all cases alleging violations of the city. The municipal judge position became open after Judge Nicole Volkert's resignation to accept a position with the City of Columbia.
According to Slagle, the city received 24 applications, four were interviewed and Stingley was selected from that group.
"What I thought was important when I looked at him, was he is a Mexico High School graduate and familiar with the community. He has been a general practice attorney for 20 years and is very qualified in understanding the law. He's a great municipal court judge," Slagle said. "You combine all of that and he was the best candidate for the job."
