10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday

Mexico Central Missouri Community Action will hold a job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Mexico High School Sports Complex, with more than 20 area employers recruiting for open positions.
Employers registered to date include: Dollar General Distribution, True Manufacturing, Teal Lake Assisted Living, Fluid Power, Missouri Office of Administration, Continental Products, Manpower, Randstad Staffing, Department of Corrections, GSN Staffing, Services for Independent Living, Ameristaff, Missouri Staffing, JobFinders, Teal Lake Home Health, Volt, Home Depot, Huskey Trailways, Whelan Security Company, Mid America Brick and the YMCA.
Attendees should bring a resume and be prepared for possible interviews with employers to discuss skills, knowledge areas and abilities. Job seekers should also be dressed for an interview.
"Overall, I think as spring gets near, we will have our seasonal people going back to work. We have a couple of companies that are hiring for that," said Julie McNeill, center manager with the Central Missouri Community Action in Mexico. "We have seven temp services coming and maybe hiring for that. Several are doing some substantial hiring. Those attending will have the opportunity to get in with the temps and have an opportunity to go on to full-time with the company."
McNeil said this is the second year the agency has sponsored the job fair. Prior to that, the last one was held five years ago. The event was moved to MHS for more space.
Community Action Agencies (CAAs) are a primary source of direct support for the more than 34.5 million people who live in poverty in the United States. The majority of CAA program participants are extremely poor, with incomes below 75 percent of the federal poverty threshold, or $9,735 for a family of three (the average family size for the client population). The Community Action network serves more than:
• 16.2 million individuals per year
• 3 million families per year
