"It is now up to the voters whether Mexico will be one of the best lighted cities in the State or not. At a special meeting, Thursday evening, the City Council voted to submit the new lighting proposition to the voters. The Councilmen have discussed the matter thoroughly and have gone over the situation with representatives of the Mexico Power Co. and decided it is for the best interest of the town to have this new system of street lights. All members except Dr. Clarence Rothwell were present last evening and Mayor Willard Potts presided."

"The importance of farmers securing all the facts about the coming wheat referendum was stressed by Fred V. Heinkel, president of the Missouri Farmers Association, at a meeting of MFA leaders held at the Empire Club this afternoon. Heinkel did not tell the farm leaders how to vote but he did warn that some enemies of farm programs were out trying to work the old 'divide and conquer' game. He said that the wheat vote was this year's top event in national farm program decision-making. The outcome of this election will certainly influence future farm legislation."
