Voters in Mexico and Audrain County who want to vote absentee still have a few days left before the April 2 General Municipal Election.
Audrain County Clerk Shelley Harvey said her office will be open Saturday from 8-noon for absentee voters. Voters also have until 5 p.m. Monday to cast absentee ballots in person. Harvey said it's too late to request absentee ballots by mail.
Due to limited issues on the ballot, Harvey said Wednesday she expects voter turnout to be very low.
"Given the fact that there are no county-wide issues and no school election this time, makes the turnout a little lower. Turnout will likely be higher in Mexico because we have a city council race," Harvey said, noting that her office has had no walk-ins for this election. "We're expecting a quiet election."
Harvey reminds voters that some consolidation of precincts have been made for Tuesday's election. They are:
• The Vandalia Precinct and the East Cuivre voters will vote at the First Baptist Church Multipurpose Building in Vandalia.
• Mexico 4 - McMillan will vote at the Audrain County Courthouse Rotunda.
• Mexico 5 - Southside Christian Church will vote at the Presbyterian Church.
