  • Mexico attorney James A. Clampitt was found guilty in Chariton County in a jury trial in January.
The jury found Clampitt guilty of felony charges of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident that happened on June 13, 2010, when Clampitt's SUV hit a riding lawnmower being driven by Richard Cobb. Cobb died three days later from injuries he received in the collision.

This afternoon the judge sentenced Clampitt to six months in Audrain County Jail for vehicular manslaughter and two years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for leaving the scene of an accident.
