The City of Mexico officially has a new judge. Judge Paul Stingley was sworn in by outgoing Judge Nicole Volkert at a ceremony at City Hall Wednesday morning. Stingley, who graduated from Mexico High School in 1984, says he's glad to be back in his hometown.
"I've always looked forward to coming back to Mexico," Stingley said, "I practiced in Mexico for several years, having practiced law for 20 years, and I look forward to serving Mexico in the capacity of Municipal Judge."
Stingley's ties to Mexico also include working with Judge Volkert. "I've also worked with the Prosecutor in the past, and when Judge Fenlon was on the bench here, I appeared in front of him on cases I was defending at the time," he said.
He is a graduate of Missouri State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School.
The Mexico Municipal Court is a Division of the 12th Judicial Circuit Court of the State of Missouri and its jurisdiction extends to all cases alleging violations of the city.
