Michael Ray Jennings, 43, of Mexico, was arrested by Audrain County Sheriff deputies on two Class C felonies after he allegedly stole more than $800 worth of fuel from the Little Dixie Fire Protection District.
Jennings was arrested for one count of theft of a credit/debit device and one count of property theft or services worth more than $501.
According to the probable cause statement, Jennings was arrested after Little Dixie Chief Kenneth Hoover contacted the sheriff's office in March in regard to theft. Hoover stated that Jennings was affiliated with Little Dixie and had access to enter the Little Dixie Fire Stations and had used a credit gasoline card without permission from Sept. 30, 2012 to Feb. 20, 2013.
The probable cause states Hoover had discovered Jennings had been stealing the fuel cards from fire trucks which were parked in the fire station and had been fueling his personal vehicle using the Little Dixie Fire Protection District fuel cards. Hoover stated when he confronted Jennings, he confessed to using the fuel cards and asked if he could work it off.
Jennings who was arrested Wednesday night has posted a $20,000 bond.
