Mexico Bulldogs soccer girls got back on the winning track Monday night defeating Boonville Lady Pirates 5-4 in what MHS Coach Brad Ellebracht called a wild game. "There were a lot of great moments for both teams and some not so great," he stated in regard to the conference game.
Mexico scored first when Bailey Reed kicked one past Boonville's goal keeper approximately 8 minutes into the game. The Lady Dawgs were leading 2-1 at the half.
"I think we are still watching a lot of our younger players grow into their roles and that process is going to be a little inconsistent. We just have to make sure that game in and game out the right attitude is there," remarked the MHS coach.
Mexico scoring included: Bailey Reed, 4 goals; Caroline Finck, 1 goal; Keagan Riddick and Rachel Owings each had 2 assists.
Monday was the first of six games this week for the Lady Bulldogs. "We have to take the lessons from this crazy game and take them to the next one," explained Ellebracht.
Mexico, 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play, will be home again tonight in a makeup game against conference rival Kirksville.
