Dale Franklin Gibbons, 69 of Mexico, died at 1:25 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 12, at Kentucky Road Christian Church with Dr. David Leslie officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday, April 11, at Pickering Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
Dale was born April 13, 1943, in Mexico, a son of Paul Franklin and Delta Etolia (Holland) Gibbons. On December 31, 1998, he married Cheryl Gaul, who survives at the home.
Mr. Gibbons owned and operated Gibbons Basement Systems for 20 years. Prior to opening his business in Mexico he spent 18 years working on the pipeline in Alaska.
He enjoyed country line dancing, traveling, fishing, and anything outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending winters in Mission, Texas He was a charter member of Kentucky Road Christian Church and he was a Life Member of the Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife Cheryl, he is survived by one son, Derek Gibbons and wife Cindy of Bozeman, Mont.; two daughters, Lisa Spargo and husband Jim of Mexico, and Susan Garrett and husband Jeff of O'Fallon; two step-sons, Richard Genck and wife Bonnie of New London, Iowa, and John Genck and wife Evelyn of Valinca, Calif.; two step-daughters Renae Dohman and husband Steve of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Tina Jaeger of New London, Iowa; one brother John L. Gibbons and wife Dorothy of Mexico; two sisters, Shirley Barker of Mexico and Betty Galen and husband Larry of Prescott, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Kenneth Gibbons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kentucky Road Christian Church or Audrain County Health Department Home Health and Hospice. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
