Mexico Bulldogs baseball team put another win under their belts Tuesday with another conference win defeating the Marshall Owls 6-3.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Bulldogs broke lose and scored 4 runs. The Dawgs came back in the fourth adding 2 two more runs and never gave up the lead. The Owls scored all 3 of their runs in the sixth inning.
Senior Matt Ridgway recorded the win. He pitched 5 innings, struck out 4 and walked 1. Elijah Robinson came in to pitch the last 2 innings, striking out 1 and allowing 1 walk.
"The guys came out early offensively and put the ball into play," said MHS Coach Keith Louder. He added the team needs to produce more runs and if they generate 5 or more runs in a game they have chance to win more ball games. "Getting 6 runs was the best news as a whole," remarked the coach.
The defense is still "good" said Louder. Even with three errors, only one of those errors was critical, allowing a run.
Sophomore Cody Creed went 2-3 on the night with 2 RBIs and 1 walk. Sophomore Austyn Sampo was 2-3 with 2 stolen bases; and junior Frank Nickoley was 1-3 with 1 RBI.
The Bulldogs improved their record to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
