NORTH CALLAWAY BASEBALL
The Thunderbirds increased their record to 5-1 Tuesday night when they were hosts to Montgomery County R-2 Wildcats with a final score of 4-0.
Justin Murphy was the winning pitcher, pitching all 7 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk, both in the first inning. He also struck out 12 in the game. His record is 3-1 and with his 4 starts and 2 relief games he has a 0 ERA.
"It was another good pitching performance by Justin, but we have to get more consistant with our hitting," remarked NorCal Coach Kevin Oneal.
The losing pitcher was Cam Parrish, who also had the only hit for the Wildcats and went 1-3 on the evening.
Only two players for the Thunderbirds came up with hits. Paul Zerr was 2-3 with 2 runs scored and Tanner Murphy was 2-3, reached on an error, had 1 RBI, and 1 run scored.
North Callaway, 5-1 overall and 4-0 in conference was scheduled to return to action today in the Montgomery County Tournament.
Montgomery's record is 4-5 and 2-2.
The JV won 8-0 and their record now stands at 4-3. Montgomery's JV is 1-3.
The Paris Coyotes could only generate 4 runs Tuesday night against South Shelby, losing 14-4.
The Coyotes had 7 hits and left 5 runners on base.
Shane Umstead was 2-3 with a double and 1 RBI. Stephan Whelan was 1-3; Slater Stone was 1-2, Tucker Gruber was 1-2 with 1 RBI, Laine Forrest was 1-1 with 1 RBI; and Brant Francis was 1-1.
Paris is 1-3 overall and 1-0 in conference.
