"Fully a hundred women were present at the meeting of the Mothers and Others Club at the McMillan High School Tuesday afternoon. A most interesting and enthusiastic meeting was held with a number of interesting talks and discussions. Mrs. C.D. Rodgers, who has made a study of foods for school children talked on that subject."

"Marvin Standley has been appointed manager of commercial operations for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Mexico, Wellsville, Montgomery City, and Fulton. He succeeds Mike Rafferty who will supervise Hannibal and Bowling Green operations. Mr. Standley, 24, a native of Kansas City began his career with Southwestern Bell in June, 1961, as commercial assistant in Ferguson. He remained there until his appointment to this district. He was a graduate from Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg in 1961, where he majored in economics."

"Roy Moeller, principal at Hawthorne Elementary School, is one of nine elementary school principals from across the nation to receive the 1988 School Administrator Awards from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Mr. Moeller received his award today at the annual convention of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). The convention is being held in the Mascone Convention Center in San Francisco, Calif."

"Mexico Golden K Kiwanis Club received the Kiwanis International Distinguished Club Award for the 2001-02 Kiwanis year. The club received a letter from Kiwanis International president; a banner patch a distinguished lapel button for President Helen Miller and Secretary Lewis Miller. These were awarded at the Missouri-Arkansas Mid Winter Conference at Branson. Mexico Golden K currently has 33 members. Mexico Golden K is one of 12 clubs in Division V of the MO–ARK District, two other clubs receiving the award were the Boonville Club and the Columbia Little Dixie Club."
