Connie F. Smith of Pittsburg, Mo, formerly of Mexico, Mo, passed away on April 11, 2013 due to injuries sustained in a car accident.
She was born in Mexico, Mo. January 17, 1944. She graduated from Rolla High School and married Gerald (Jerry) L. Smith in 1962. She worked for many years at A.P. Green in Mexico. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing on her computer, and reading. She loved animals, especially her dog and cats.
Connie is survived by Jerry, her husband of 50 years; seven sisters: Marcella (Morris) Hay, Helen (Lin) Hayden, Marilyn (Bob) Fort, Judy (Ken) Cook, Janice Erdel, Sharon Hagan, and Linda Beers; two brothers: Larry (Nancy) Powell and Allan Powell. She is also survived by her three children: Beth (Dale) Munsey, Michael (Heather) Smith, and Jennifer (Dan) Glover; seven granchildren, whom she adored, Meghan Obermark, Cody and Wyatt Munsey, and Caleb, Lane, Emery, and Roarke Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Howard Wm. and Fay Dell Riley Powell and by two brothers: Howard Wm. Powell Jr. and Kenneth E. Powell.
A gathering to celebrate Connie's life was held at Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home in Wheatland, Mo on Sunday, April 14. Memorial donations may be made to Hermitage R-IV Public School, P.O. Box 327 Hermitage, Mo, 65668 or an animal rescue organization of your choice.
