The weather has wreaked havoc with spring sports and now athletic directors have the chore of rescheduling games postponed due to rain – and snow.
Jeff Anderson, Mexico High School athletic director, stated Thursday this has been a strange spring for sports. He has spent a lot of time with other athletic directors rescheduling sports activities.
For Mexico sports all games were called off Thursday. The golf team was scheduled to play in Fulton on Thursday. Now Fulton will come here at the same time Mexico plays Missouri Military Academy Tuesday at the Mexico Country Club.
Rescheduled games have also been canceled this week for baseball so now they are making up makeup games. A double-header against Hannibal scheduled for Tuesday, (one regular game, one makeup from April 6) will be played Saturday at 5 p.m. at home.
The Moberly game for Wednesday which was also a makeup game from earlier in the season will be played May 6 at Moberly for varsity and junior varsity will play here.
The Kirksville makeup game from April 8 will be played in Kirksville on April 30. MHS will also play in the Fulton Tournament April 29 through May 1. They will play April 29 in Fulton, travel to Kirksville on April 30 and then back to the Fulton Tournament on May 1.
There is no word on when the tennis team will make up the match rained out on Thursday. Some of the games and matches for high school and Mexico Middle School will not be rescheduled.
As of press time, soccer is still on tonight at home against Warrenton. In addition to the baseball double-header Saturday, the Ron Whittaker Bulldog classic will be held here.
