  • BASEBALL: Monday was senior night for Mexico Bulldogs baseball and what better way to celebrate than to win the game. Seniors and their parents honored before the varsity game were: Kyle Whanger, Jake Willer, Dylan Nance, Elijah Robinson, Matt Ridgway, Garrett Carroz, Justin Webber and Dale Test.
    The Bulldogs took the lead in the second inning, scoring one run. Hallsville came back in the top of the third to score 2 runs on a 2-run home run by Cole Burkett. The score remained 2-1 until the bottom of the fifth when the Bulldogs picked up 2 more runs making it 3-2 which was the final score of the game. A hit by Austyn Sampo drove in the tying run and Jake Willer hit a sacrifice fly giving Mexico the lead.
    Elijah Robinson was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs.
    GOLF: The Mexico Bulldogs golf team had a successful outing Monday at the California Country Club taking on the Pintos and Tipton Cardinals. Mexico won the match clearing Tipton by one stroke and defeating California by 17. The final scores were Mexico 172, Tipton 173 and California 189. The varsity record is 31-18.

    The junior varsity teams also was able to pull of a victory. The final scores in JV were: Mexico 189, Tip 219 and California, no score. The JV's record is 17-2.

    SOCCER: The Mexico Lady Bulldogs soccer team traveled to Kirksville Monday night to play the Lady Tigers. Kirksville won in the high scoring game 7-4. MHS Coach Brad Ellebracht remarked he believes this is the first 7-4 match he has ever been involve in.
    "We had to do some shuffling of players last night – which I am sure led to some of the defensive miscues. We were able to possess the ball and get some looks, but obviously, you can't give up 7 goals and expect to be in the ball game," added Ellebracht.
    For the Lady Bulldogs, Keagan Riddick scored 1 goal and had 3 assists; Nutcha Ponsuea, Lauren Ralls, Melanie Worley scored 1 goal each; while Sammy Spurling had 1 assist.
    The Lady Bulldogs are 5-6 overall and 2-4 in conference.
    The junior varsity game ended in a 0-0 tie.
