NORTH CALLAWAY: On Monday night on their home field, the North Callaway Thunderbirds handed South Callaway their first loss of the season with a 6-4 victory.
Both teams scored 4 runs in the second inning, then in the bottom of the third North Callaway added two more runs.
Sophomore Paul Zerr was the winning pitcher, pitching all seven innings. He also had a successful night at the plate, going 1-2 with a walk, 1RBI and 2 runs.
"Paul had a great game. He had one shaky inning, then pitched well after that. He also did well at the plate," remarked North Callaway Coach Kevin O'Neal.
Also on the defense, Zach McCowan was 1-3 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored, Jake Kee was 1-3 with 1 run scored; and Chance Kee was 1-3.
North Callaway increased its record to 7-5. South Callaway is now 8-1.
The North Callaway junior varsity lost 9-8 Monday.
