In a rescheduled game at Wellsville the North Callaway Thunderbirds baseball team defeated the Tigers 13-3. North Callaway batters struck early scoring 7 runs in the first and 6 in the second inning. Wellsville scored 2 in the first and 1 in the fourth inning.
John Steele was the losing pitcher. At the plate he was 1-3 with 1RBI and 1 run scored.
Jacob Haubner (1-0) was the winning pitcher going 4 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned), 6 hits, 2 strikeouts and no walks.
North Callaway had three players going 3-3. Chance Kee and Tanner Murphy each had a double, 1RBI and scored 2 runs. Paul Zerr, had 2RBI, with one double and 2 runs scored.
"Jacob pitched an excellent game down and pitching to contact," remarked NorCal Coach Kevin O'Neal.
North Callaway returns to action tonight at 7 p.m. in the Fulton tournament championship against state-ranked Fatima.
The Thunderbirds are 11-6 overall and 7-0 in conference play. Wellsville is 0-7 overall and in conference play.
The junior varsity Thunderbirds lost 3-1. Their record is 8-6-1. Wellsville's JV is 3-1.
