Mexico High School golf report
Mexico High School golfer Austin Kelsay has advanced to the state championships next week in Sedalia. At the sectional competition Monday Kelsay, a sophomore, scored an 80 which included a 37 on the back 9 at a long and soaked Innsbrook golf course.
Senior Brock Lunceford and sophomore Alex Bledsoe also competed in the sectional competition. According to MHS Coach John Knipfel, Lunceford had an excellent run this season and during his golf career at MHS, but came up short missing the cut. He carded a 103. Bledsoe who carded a 90 and missed the cut by 7 strokes, says he has high hopes for the years to come and only looks forward to becoming a better player and learning from his successes and failures this season.
"Even though his teammates will not be joining him, they congratulated him (Kelsay) on his success today and are excited for the opportunity that lies ahead for him next week," remarked the MHS coach.
