The North Callaway Thunderbirds squeaked out a victory Saturday in the first round of District play at home defeating Montgomery City Wildcats 10-9.
The Thunderbirds came up with 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the game. In the fifth inning the Thunderbirds had a 7-1 lead.
The Wildcats answered in the sixth with 3 hits on 4 North Callaway errors and ending up scoring 8 runs in the inning and taking a 9-7 lead.
Chance Kee was the winning pitcher. The losing pitcher was Jackson Bishop.
At the plate Justin Murphy was 4-5 with 2 doubles, 2RBI and 2 runs scored; Kee was 2-4 with 2RBI and 1 run scored.
In other games Centralia defeated California 12-10 and Wright City won 12-0 over Hermann in five innings.
North Callaway plays at 6:30 p.m. today against Wright City.
