  • At approximately 9:56 p.m. Friday, Mexico Public Safety responded to a business in the 4800 block of South Clark in reference to a report of stealing. Responding personnel located the suspect's vehicle in the area of South Clark and Lakeview and attempted to stop it. The driver of the vehicle refused to pull over, leading MPSD officers on a short pursuit to about the 1600 block of East Liberty.
At that point personnel from the Audrain County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol continued pursuing the vehicle along U.S. Highway 54 and Missouri Highway 19. The vehicle was stopped in Ralls County and the driver was arrested at about 10:34 p.m.
The driver, identified as Ammie C. Gaston, 34, of Laddonia, was taken into custody by MSHP for the laws they observed her violating during their pursuit. MPSD will be forwarding a report to the Audrain County Prosecutor for the charges of stealing (under $500) and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. Other charges included: possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, careless and imprudent driving, failure to signal a left turn, failed to drive on the right half of roadway, and littering. Gaston posted a $29,300 surety bond and was released from the Audrain County Jail.
