Billy R. Cearley, 83 of Perry, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home.
A memorial service was held on Monday, May 13, at Southfork Presbyterian Church with pastors John Grimmitt and Kenny Sharp officiating. The family received friends from 10:00 a.m. till service time at the church.
Billy was born on Jan. 5, 1930 in Sparks, OK, the son of Allie C. and Rachel L. "Babe" (Bowman) Cearley. On May 3, 1951 he married Billie M. Sharp at the Christian Church in Perry.
He enlisted in the Missouri National Guard in June, 1950 and went to work for them full time in May, 1956, retiring on Dec. 31, 1990.
He was a member of the Mexico Kiwanis Club, Perry Lions Club, President of the Ralls County Historical Society, had been active with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop #57. He was an Eagle Scout and had received the Silver Beaver Award and the Wood Badge, was in the Tribe of Micosay and Order of the Arrow.
Survivors include his wife Billie Cearley of the home; a son Curt Cearley and his wife Susan of Senoia, GA; a daughter Penny Cearley of Perry; grandchildren, Darcy Cearley of Wentzville, Travis Cearley and wife Catherine of Festus, MO, Arline Hayes of New Jersey, Mandy Kimner and husband Chris of Newnan, GA, and John Malinofsky and wife Cristal of Senoia, GA; and 5 great-grandchildren, Braden, Cameron, Jett, Caelin and Coltin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a nephew.
Memorials may be made to Southfork Church or Boy Scout Troop #57.
