At approximately 4:11 p.m. Monday, a Mexico Public Safety officer saw a man walking in the 600 block of East Promenade, and recognized the man as having active warrants out for his arrest. As officers attempted to make contact with the man, he ran to the south. The man was found, hiding approximately two blocks away, and was taken into custody at about 4:25 p.m.
According to MPSD, Ronald Fountain, 56, of Mexico, was taken to the Audrain County Jail for six Audrain County warrants, one Boone County warrant, and the additional charge of resisting arrest. There were no injuries from the incident.
Citizens are reminded that people arrested/charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
