Ruby Arlene O'Neal, 90, of Fulton passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. She was born November 15, 1922 in Fulton, the daughter of Benjamin R. and Ruth (Sapp) McCowan.
She was united in marriage to Walter Hoxsey O'Neal on May 4, 1946. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1998.
Ruby was a member of the Church of God Holiness. She worked for Sault's Drug Store and International Shoe Factory. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Ruby is survived by her son, Dan O'Neal and his wife Donna of Columbia; brother, Lloyd McCowan and his wife Corrine of Kansas; sister, Rachel Vaughn of Fulton; grandchildren, Jeremy O'Neal, Derek O'Neal, Mandolin Douglas, and Perry Herring; great-grandchildren, Averi Fulkerson, Keaton O'Neal, Tegan and Lance O'Neal, Catrina and Candra Herring, Roger Paul Woodworth, Joshua Stone, and Austin Patterson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Wanda Herring-Patterson; grandsons, Paul LeRoy Herring and Daniel Patterson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the time of service.
In lieu of customary memorials, the family suggests donations be made in Ruby's name to Women's VFW Auxiliary or Callaway County Senior Center, c/o Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
