"The Baptist Women's Missionary Union of Audrain County will hold an all-day meeting with Hopewell Baptist Church at Thompson Station on June 29. Miss Martha Sullinger, who is teaching in the mountains under the Home Mission Board of the SBC and Miss Elinor Mare, corresponding secretary of the State work will be on the program. An interesting program is assured and there should be a large attendance. Dinner will be served on the grounds at the church."

"The city council of Mexico will re-submit to the voters the $600,000 sewer bond issue which failed to pass yesterday by 65 votes. While a 62 percent majority of the voters approved the sewer plant and sewer extension project, a companion plan for financing by sewer service charges was snowed under, 939 against to 531 for. Meeting at noon today, to officially canvass the ballots in the light election, councilmen discussed the date for another vote."

"Wheat harvest in Ledgerland was in full swing today, beginning in most areas over the weekend, and most farmers have said they were pleasantly surprised with the good yields. Prices were ranging from $3.19 to $3.31 a bushel early this morning, but most buyers were expecting increases after the Chicago Board of Trade figures were released. Buyers said much of the grain was smaller than normal, but most of it was testing less than 13 percent moisture."

"A timely wild pitch and a strong pitching performance helped the Mexico Junior Legion baseball team (4-4) sweep a doubleheader from Hannibal on Wednesday. Mexico won the first game of the doubleheader in the bottom of the 7th inning. With the game deadlocked at 3, Ryan Schudel scored from third on a wild pitch with the bases loaded. Mexico struck out 18 out of 21 batters, gave up no earned runs, but Hannibal managed to still score 7 runs. Nonetheless, Mexico held on for a four run victory in the second game."
