  • Rhoda Cobb, 90, of Montgomery City, MO, died on Monday, June 24, 2013, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
    Rhoda Louise Cobb was born September 13, 1922 in Bluffton, MO, to Joseph Benjamin Fischer and Emma Eveline McGarvin Fischer. She married Philip John Martin and later married George Weeks Garrett, they both preceded Mrs. Cobb in death. Mrs. Cobb worked at the Kroger Store in Montgomery City, MO, and retired from Mercantile Bank in Montgomery City, MO, after working many years. Mrs. Cobb married Samuel Francis "Frank" Cobb, Sr. and together they have enjoyed 17 plus happy years. Mrs. Cobb was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, MO; also attended the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, MO; was a member of the WSCS Methodist Women; President of the Western Service Guild; Piece Makers Quilting Club; and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and working with crafts. She loved spending time with Frank and her family and many friends.
    Mrs. Cobb is survived by her husband, Samuel Francis "Frank" Cobb, Sr. of Montgomery City, MO; grandchildren: Mitzi Nichols and husband, Tom, of Buell, MO; Matthew Bishop and wife, Barbara, of Wellsville, MO; Peggi Yager and husband, Greg, of Montgomery City, MO; Philip Bishop and wife, Bessie, of Hannibal, MO; Joan Andrews and husband, Wayne, of Montgomery City, MO; Leslie Hammett and husband, Mike, of Farber, MO; Lynn Worley of Perry, MO; Great-grandchildren: Makayla, Mackenzie, and Karina Yager, Zachary Nichols and wife, Monica, and Tyler Nichols, Ashley Bishop Curtis and husband, Troy, Brett, Lauren and Bethany Bishop, Paige Bishop, Abigail Andrews, Caleb Dyke, and Travis Bryant; great-great-grandchildren, Malachi Nichols and Aidyn Bryant; son-in-law, Calvin Bontz of Curryville, MO; step-children: Margaret Smith and husband, Robert, of Independence, MO; Patricia Hunn and husband, John, of Foristell, MO; Mary Ella Beardslee and husband, Michael, of Mexico, MO; Samuel F. Cobb, Jr. and wife, Donna, of New Florence, MO; Robert W. Cobb and wife, Phyllis, of Troy, MO; John M. Cobb and wife, Nancy, of High Hill, MO; James M. Cobb and wife, Jill, of Warrenton, MO; David W. Cobb and wife, Janet, of Montgomery City, MO; and Thomas S. Cobb and wife, Alice, of New Florence, MO; and 25 step-grandchildren; and 32 step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
    Mrs. Cobb was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Benjamin Fischer and Emma Eveline McGarvin Fischer; husbands, Philip John Martin and George Weeks Garrett; daughter, Phyllis Bontz; step-daughter, Lillian Marlyn Worley; and an infant son, William Joseph Martin.
    A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Russell Judge will officiate and interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery near Americus, MO. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, at the Immaculate Conception Church with a Prayer Service at 8:00 PM at the church. Casketbearers include Matthew Bishop, Philip Bishop, Brett Bishop, Zachary Nichols, Tom Nichols, Tyler Nichols, and Greg Yager. Honorary Casketbearers include Mitzi Nichols, Peggi Yager, Bessie Bishop, Barbara Bishop, Lynn Worley, Leslie Hammett, and Joan Andrews.
