There are several youth sports camps being offered during the month of July at the Mexico Area Family YMCA.
The week of July 8 through 12 there will be a volleyball camp for girls entering grades 5-8. It will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The camp will be under the direction of Larry Sample who has more than 20 years of volleyball coaching experience with Columbia Public Schools.
The week of July 22 through 26 there will be both a boys and girls basketball camp.
The Girls Basketball Training Camp is sponsored by the Mexico Parks and Recreation Department and is for ages 10-15. It will run from 9 to 11 a.m. and will be under the direction of Curt Riley, Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Columbia College.
The boys camp is for grades 5-8 and will run from noon to 2 p.m. It will be under the direction of Tom Fischer, program director at the YMCA and retired school teacher and coach.
