July 2, 1937
Amelia Earhart disappears over the Pacific
"Lady Lindy," as she was called, was the 16th woman to receive a pilot's license. In 1937, Earhart attempted to be the first woman to circumnavigate the globe from the equator. She was last seen on July 2, 1937. Her disappearance remains a mystery today.
