Joe Dean Austin, 79, of Centralia, Mo., died July 1, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kan.
Joe was born Feb. 17, 1934 in Cape Fair, Mo., the son of Richard Alexander and Ida Iona Asher Austin.
On Nov. 9, 1953, he was married in Hugoton, Kan. to Shirley Cryer.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cryer Austin of 59 years, Centralia; son, Monte Ray Austin, Columbia; one daughter, Jana Loy and husband, Mark, Clark; six grandchildren, Derek Austin and wife, Christi, Andrea Dubes and husband, Clint, Adam Hill, Tyler Austin, Kristen Clark and Clay Austin; 10 great-grandchildren, Catherine Austin and Lane Austin, Brittany, Brenna, Brayden, and Bryson Dubes; Debin Lewis and Alissa Hill, Madison and Haleigh Austin, many nieces and nephews; brother, James Floyd, Spanaway, Wash.; one brother-in-law, Gary Cryer and wife, Diana of Wichita, also many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Joe was an active member of Parkview Christian Church, Centralia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Parkview Christian Church, Centralia. Officiating will be Lon Hardy, Pastor, Parkview Christian Church, Centralia. Interment will be in Centralia Cemetery, Centralia. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Fenton Funeral Chapel.
