Nellie Clay Black, 87 of Moberly, MO, formerly of Auxvasse, Mexico, and St. Louis, MO. died Sunday, July 7, 2013.
Mrs. Black was born June 21, 1926 in Mexico, MO; the only daughter of the late Robert Wesley and Nancy Ellen (Mosley) Winn who preceded her in death. She married Harry Dean Black of Mexico, MO on May 14, 1950, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by; Robert Black and wife Sandie Black of St. Louis, MO; Paul Black and Jennie Lee Granese of Frederick, Maryland; and Lawrence Black of Saudi Arabia. Also surviving is sister-in-law Helen Maupin of Mexico, MO; nieces and family members.
After graduation from Fulton High School in 1945 she joined the Army Nursing Cadets Corp and later earned a Nursing Degree from St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, MO in 1948. A Moberly resident of 41 years, she joined the staff at Moberly Area Community College in 1972 as an instructor in the Practical Nursing Program until her retirement in 1988. In retirement she served as an Advisor to Moberly Area Community College and Home Care of Mid Missouri. She also served as a Board Member of Home Care of Mid Missouri. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Moberly, MO.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, Moberly; Moberly Area Community College; Home Care of Mid Missouri, or charity of donor's choice.
Visitation will be Tuesday 4-7 pm at Cater Funeral Home, Moberly, MO. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:00am at Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Mexico, MO.
