North Callaway's lone run came in the bottom of the seventh when Elaine Brinker hit a single up the middle to score Kasey Coil and secure the victory. The Thunderbirds were held to five hits, the team's worst night behind the plate this year with two singles by Kasey Huddleston and a hit each from Jaida Gray, Coil and Brinker.
"This was a good conference win for us," coach Sarah Baumgartner said. "It was a little closer game than we would have liked but the girls came together for the win."
The Thunderbirds play again Monday when they host the Fulton Hornets in Auxvasse.
The Centralia Panthers moved to 14-2 Thursday after beating the Fatima Comets 4-1 in Westphalia.
"We were very sluggish and didn't play well," coach Jill Angel said. "It was good to win be able to win a nail biter game. The kids kept their composure even with the numerous errors."
Bailey Douglass moved to 12-1 on the mound, striking out 12 batters and allowing just three hits. Madison Preston hit a homerun in the seventh for the Panthers.
