Mexico softball hosted Van-Far and North Callaway in a three-team junior varsity tournament Saturday at Gallop Field.
Mexico beat Van-Far 16-1 in four innings in the Bulldogs' first game. Freshman D.J. Aaron was the winning pitcher, recording three strikeouts, two walks and just one hit.
Freshman Kenzie Robnett hit a two-run homerun in the first and Aaron a three three-run homerun in third. Sophomore Sydnee Playter had a triple and two singles. Sophomore Ashlee Morton had two doubles, sophomore Morgan Hall a double and a single, freshman Sydy Hull a double, freshman Taylor Brown two singles and freshman Allie Finch a single in the Mexico win.
North Callaway beat Van-Far 10-0 in six innings before the Bulldogs and Thunderbirds met in the final game, a pitcher's duel in which North Callaway came out on top 1-0.
North Callaway's Maddie Ausfahl held the Bulldogs to four hits, singles by Aaron, Hull, Robnett and Morton in securing the victory. North Callaway's lone run came in the first inning when Patri Eckert scored from third on a wild pitch.
Mexico hosts the Battle Spartans tonight at Gallop Field. North Callaway returns to the field tonight, hosting Fulton.
