  • The Mexico City Council passed four bills at Monday's meeting. All members of the council were present.
    The council deliberated on Bill No. 2013-64: A Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Agreement with Various Organizations for Requested Funding from the Mexico Tourism Tax, which sought to distribute a total of $14,160 to the Mexico Tourism Commission and Presser Performing Arts Center for 2013-2014 advertising campaigns. The council, after several moments of discussion, urged the Mexico Tourism Commission to broaden its outlook and explore possible alternative future advertising avenues. The bill was resolved and passed with a final tally of three 'yes' votes, one 'no' vote, and an abstention.
    The council also resolved Bill No. 2013-65: An Ordinance Rezoning Property Located at 1010 South Calhoun and Amending the District Map Referred to in Section 15-142 of the Code of the City of Mexico, Missouri (Zoning) to R-3B, Office and Professional. This authorized the rezoning of property located at 1010 South Calhoun from R-1, Single Family Dwelling to R-3B, Office and Professional. A representative for the property said that there have been several inquiries from potential buyers interested in further developing the property.
    The final items dealt with the Airport Improvement Program which includes refurbishing the airport's runway and the overall airfield area. Bill No. 2013-67: An Ordinance Authorizing the City Manager to execute a State Block Grant Agreement Amendment with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for Funding Project 13-038A-1, Airport Improvement Program and Bill No. 2013-68: An Ordinance Authorizing the City Manager to execute a Consultant Supplement Agreement No. 1 with Crawford, Murphy, and Tilly, Inc. for Project 13-038A-1, Airport Improvement Program were both passed unanimously.
