Alvin Eugene Harp, 81, died at 8:20 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Audrain Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Stanford officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation is Saturday from 9:30 – 11:00 at the funeral home.
Mr. Harp was recently a resident of Golden Living Center – Pin Oaks but was a long time resident of Rush Hill.
Alvin was born on Dec. 8, 1931 in Mexico. He graduated from Mexico High School where he was a pitcher for the Mexico Bulldogs baseball team.
In May of 1969, he was married to Naomi Jean Garlock at Centennial Baptist Church in Mexico. He started working at A.P. Green's in 1969 and retired in 1996. He enjoyed gardening and repair work around the home. He was an avid Cardinal Fan and was a member of the Rush Hill Community Church.
Survivors include his wife Jean of the home in Rush Hill; two nieces, Arla Baise of Columbia and Paula Dean of Illinois; two nephews, Tom O. Masters and wife Glenda of Columbia and Robert Harp of Thompson; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry and Ethel Pauline (DeTienne) Harp, a brother Harold Raymond Harp, a sister Lois Colleen Masters, and a nephew Christopher Harp.
