A vessel collision on the Niangua Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks resulted in the third boating fatality on the lake this year.
James Koch, 61, of High Ridge, Mo., was piloting a 2004 Chaparral at the 4 mile marker of the Big Niangua when the vessel struck an unspecified fixed object Friday night. Koch was not wearing a life jacket according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. He was pronounced dead shortly before 11 p.m. by Camden County Coroner Dee Ballard.
This is Troop F's third boating fatality in 2013.
