Shirley L. (Kemp) Richards, 77, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013.
She was born March 14, 1936, in Wellsville, Missouri to Cozetta Bankhead and J. D. Kemp.
In April of 1966, she married James Richards Sr. in Columbia and he preceded her in death in March of 2013.
Shirley worked at Columbia Regional Hospital as a nurse technician for 23 years. She enjoyed crocheting, hunting and fishing, styling hair and cooking. Family was extremely important to Shirley and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She loved her husband dearly.
There will be a visitation from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 pm.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children: Jamie Richards (fiancée, Deborah Lipshield), Marcus Kemp (wife, Danielle), and Vanae Scott (fiancée, Sebastian) all of Columbia; grandchildren: Tynisha, Tyaleena, D'Antre, Ashley (husband, Mike), Braden and Natalie; one great granddaughter, Kenlee and special cousin, Calvin Steele (wife, Phyllis) of Texas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and granddaughter, Tasha Loggins.
