Billy Gene DeWitt, 82, Weatherford, Texas, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at the Weatherford Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, in Wheeling Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Bill DeWitt to the Arthritis Foundation may be left at or mailed to Delaney Funeral Home, 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, Mo. 64658.
Billy was born December 15, 1930, in Wheeling, son of Ray Laverne and Susan Opal (Harris) DeWitt.
Billy grew up in the Wheeling area in a farming family. He worked for many years with the Missouri Conservation Department before retiring. He had recently received his 60-year Master Mason pin from the Hale Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lena and Frank Lyles, Weatherford, Texas; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Donna DeWitt, Berthoud, Colo., Ron and Debbie DeWitt, Killeen, Texas, and Brian and Jennifer DeWitt, Weatherford, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard DeWitt and Betty DeWitt, Warsaw, and Larry and Sharron DeWitt, Kansas City; and five sisters-in-law; many other relatives; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth; two brothers, Gerald and Stanley; and one sister, Lois.
