The eighth graders lost to the Hornets in three hard fought games, 17-25, 25-19, 17-25. The Bulldogs slipped to 2-4 with the loss.
"It was a rough start for the girls, but they pulled together during the second game after a few switches in the line-up, which resulted in a win," Boedeker said. "The third game we struggled with serve receptions which ended in a tough loss for the girls."
The seventh graders play again Saturday at the Montgomery County Seventh Grade Tournament. Both teams face the Hannibal Pirates Monday at home.
Seventh grade football lost to the Kirksville Tigers Tuesday, 28-0, falling to 0-4.
"The boys played hard," coach Ron Bracht said. "Missed blocking assignment and fumbles were their downfall, (but) tackling and run defense are much improved."
The eighth graders also fell to the Tigers, recording their first loss of the season, 34-6.
Marquis Williams scored the Bulldogs lone touchdown, a 65-yard kickoff return.
"We ran into a very explosive Kirksville team that was solid on both sides of the ball and really knew how to exploit our weaknesses," coach David Okenfuss said. "We now must regroup and get ready for our rival, Fulton."
The Bulldogs host the Hornets Tuesday.
