45 million: Despite the fact that roughly 45 million Americans diet each year, the prevalence of obesity in this country has more than doubled among adults in the last 30 years. About one third of American adults are affected by obesity and another one third are overweight. Without successful intervention, it’s estimated that half of the U.S. adult population could be affected by obesity by 2030.

In the U.S., nearly half of all women older than 50 will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture. And while osteoporosis may seem like a disease that only affects people later in life, early prevention is key to better bone health.

New Research



The Women's Health Initiative recently released a study on the safety of hormone replacement therapy, according to CNN Health. The results indicate it’s healthy for most women who have just entered menopause to take hormones for a short period of time, but researchers do not recommend it for long-term use because it puts older women at higher risk for blood clots, stroke and heart attacks.
