Mexico soccer finished second in the annual Bulldog Invitational Saturday, beating Elsberry High School and moving to 10-9 in the process.
In the Bulldogs’ first game of the day, they beat the Indians of Elsberry 5-1.
Senior Christian McKeown had three goals for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Brock Fuemmeler and senior Kyle Bailey contributed one goal and one assist each. Senior Colin Cosby had two assists while senior Lake Bailey had one.
In the second game of the tournament, the Bulldogs fell to the Chillicothe Hornets 1-3.
"Our game against Chillicothe was nothing short of a nightmare in the beginning," head coach Grant Johnston said. "We let up three goals in the first six minutes of play to fall into a 3-0 hole early. We just lost track of our marks."
The Bulldogs outplayed the Hornets the remainder of the game but were unable to make up the early deficit.
McKeown scored the Bulldogs’ only goal, finishing a cross from Fuemmeler.
Bulldogs soccer travels to Moberly Tuesday.
