Mary Ellen Wade, age 96, of Union died Oct 25, 2013. She was born January 31, 1917 at Laddonia, MO, the daughter of E.F. (Mage) and Mabel Moore Haycraft. She received her education at Elm Bend School and Laddonia High School. She later attended Chillicothe Business Colege at Chillicothe, MO. On December 20, 1936, she was united in marriage to Roy L. Wade at the Hillside Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas. Mrs. Wade worked 21 years for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (ASC) offices in Franklin County, MO and in Monroe County, Illinois. She also worked seven years as a caseworker for the Division of Family Services at Union, MO. She had worked previously in the predecessor of the D.F.S. office in Audrain County, MO. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Union. She was a 50-year member and past matron of Naomi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Union.
Mrs. Wade is survived by six children, E.F. Wade, and his wife, JoAnn, San Antonio, NM; Wanda R. Hults, Wildwood, MO; Carmen E. Wade, Chesterfield, MO; James L. Wade, Union, MO; William H. Wade and wife, Julette of Rockford, IL; and, Elizabeth A. (Betty) Crenshaw and husband, Robert of Fuquay Varina, NC. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry F. Haycraft, October 1930, a sister Mabel M. Haycraft, November 1991, a grandson, Jonathan D. Wade, January 1996, and a son-in-law, E. Leroy Hults, also January 1996.
Funeral Services were held at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, Missouri, with Rev. Randy Johnson, officiating. Internment will be at Laddonia Cemetary, Laddonia, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Union Food Pantry. The Wade Family was served by the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union, MO. To send condolences to the family visit our website
