  • Knox County soars into the second round beat up, but looking to fly past the Cards

  • Knox County saw the return of Donovan Edwards in their opening round win over Scotland County. Edwards wasn’t 100 percent, but he scored the game-tying touchdown and found Cedric Boone in overtime for the game-winner.
If KC wants to pull the upset on South Shelby they are going to have to have Edwards become even more of a threat. After a productive first quarter rushing, Edwards handed the ball to Brody Moubry almost every time from the second quarter on. Moubry took advantage, rushing for over 200 yards.
The big story for the Eagles was their defense, which turned in their best outing of the season when it mattered most. They held the Tigers to nine points and held SC to under 70 yards rushing. That is going to be the key on Wednesday for KC. They have the athletes in Edwards, Boone, Moubry and Royce Poore to compete with any one, but can they man-up up front and handle the Cardinals running game?
The two teams only have one-opponent in common, Schuyler County, who SS beat last week, 49-14. The Eagles took care of the Rams 36-14 in Week 8.
KC better be prepared for the Cardinals to come out flying. Last week they scored on their first drive, then recovered an onside kick and were up 14-0 before the Rams had even touched the ball.
These two teams are less than an hour away from each other, but haven’t played since the district playoffs in 2011. South Shelby won that meeting, 39-8.
